With a growing global population there is an incremental rise in energy usage; lighting accounts for almost 20% of electricity consumption and 6% of CO2 emissions worldwide. Streetlighting in particular accounts for 15% of the global power consumption, 5% of the greenhouse emissions & 40% of the electricity bills at a municipal level. As the quest for a greener planet and net zero targets accelerates, global governments are focusing on making cities both smart and sustainable. Countries are striving to find ways to ensure the existing infrastructure aligns with the overall goals of sustainability.
